History of the Eiffel Tower

This picture shows the Eiffel Tower under construction in 1888. Gustave Eiffel originally planned on building the structure in Barcelona but the Barcelona city hall thought it didn't fit with the structure of their city. He then sent in his draft to those responsible for the Universal Exhibition in Paris where he would build the tower soon after. It opened on May 6th, 1889. It took three hundred workers to build the Eiffel Tower and only one man died in the process.
